Carla Isabel Silva Miranda is an Assistant Professor in the Microbiology area and Infectious Diseases at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Science at the University Institute of Health Sciences of the Advanced Polytechnic and University Cooperative, CRL (IUCS-CESPU). She is an integrated member of LAQV-REQUIMTE, University NOVA of Lisbon and a collaborator researcher at 1H-TOXRUN (IUCS-CESPU) of Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (UCIBIO). She holds a PhD in Veterinary Sciences from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar at the University of Porto (ICBAS-UP) in 2016 and obtained her master degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2010. Her main research interest is the characterization of antibiotic resistance mechanisms in bacteria of different origins as humans, animals, food, water and the environment in a One Health approach, as well as the performance of studies of molecular epidemiology to characterize the genetic lineages of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. She has participated in diverse I&D projects as PI or Researcher, and she has supervised several undergraduate students and master dissertations. She co-coordinated the implementation of the service-learning MicroMundo@IUCS-CESPU project, involving university and school students. Her academic/scientific achievements include a FCT fellowship (BD), and 3 awards/distinctions. Concerning scientific production, she has more than 150 scientific publications as articles in journals from the SCI, book chapter/book, GenBank publications and communications (panel/oral) at prestigious national and international congresses.
