Ana Furtado was awarded with the Honorable Mention ISASF 2024 PhD Thesis Award in Supercritical Fluids by the International Society for the Advancement of Supercritical Fluids (ISASF) during the 14th International Symposium on Supercritical Fluids & 9th Conference of the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association (ISSF–ISHA 2025) that held in Bali, Indonesia, from June 15th  to 20th, 2025.

Ana Furtado was recently awarded the PhD degree in Sustainable Chemistry (NOVA FCT, 2020–2024), for her work on the development of sustainable affinity materials for detection, catalysis, and bio–purification using two different environmentally–friendly technologies: supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO₂) and mechanochemistry (ball milling). Her PhD studies were supervised by the LAQV REQUIMTE researchers of the  CleanMIPTech group Raquel Viveiros and Teresa Casimiro and also by Vasco Bonifácio, from iBB, IST ULisboa, During this period, she has published five articles in international journals (ACS Omega, Molecules, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Materials Today Chemistry, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics: X) and one book chapter. Her PhD work has received several international recognitions, including the BES travel fellowship, ITC COST Actions, MDPI Materials 2024 Travel Award, Luso–American Development Foundation (FLAD) “Papers@USA”, 5th YERUN Research Mobility Award 2022, and 3MT–ISSF2022.

Currently, Ana Furtado is developing research work as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Sensor Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Maastricht University (The Netherlands), where she is developing novel sensors for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.
