Marlene Costa completed a PhD in Sustainable Chemistry in 2019 from the University of Porto, a Master's in Chemistry in 2012 and a Degree in Chemistry in 2010 from the same institution.
She has produced a total of 13 scientific papers in international peer reviewed journals.
Currently, she is a Pos-Doc researcher at the project Phenoliva (PTDC/OCE-ETA/32492/2017) from REQUIMTE-LAQV funded by FCT. She has been synthesizing olive polyphenols and their metabolites and analyzing them in biological matrices, necessary for the assessment of their bioavailability and bioactivity. This assessment is important for the valuation of the polyphenol content of olive oil and by-products of the olive oil industry.
