I have a PhD in chemistry from the University of Porto, Portugal (2000). I become an Assistant Professor at the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Sciences of Porto, Portugal, and later (2009) an associate Professor of the same Faculty. I'm currently teaching courses in computational (bio)chemistry, bioinformatics and drug discovery.
My current research interests focus on two fields, the reaction mechanism of enzymes, investigated with computational QM/MM methods and drug discovery using virtual tools. I also research protein dynamics, diffusion of small druglike molecules across biomembranes, molecular dynamics free energy calculations of biomolecules, computational mutagenesis, homology modelling and docking.
