She has a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Ph.D. (2005) in Chemical Engineering from the faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and the Habilitation title in Chemical and Biological Engineering (2023). She is Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (Portugal) and member of Scientific Board of the same institution. She is an Integrated member of Associated Laboratory REQUIMTE, LAQV.
Her research has been directed to the development analytical methods, sample preparation, and monitoring trace organic compounds in biological samples, food, and environmental samples, using chromatographic techniques. At present, the research strategy includes the development of new analytical methods, understanding the relationship with toxicity and exposure risk assessment with emerging pollutants.
Valentina F. Domingues co-authored about 110 ISI papers(h-index 30) and about 17 book chapters, (co)supervised: 8 PhD thesis (plus 1 on-going), and having coordinated and participated in several projects.
