PhD in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry from NOVA University of Lisbon in 1992. Teaching and supervision of students at Nova School of Sciences and Technology. Projects in the discovery of metabolites with of terpenoid, phenolic and alkaloid structures, with anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial activity and action on chronic pain, from terrestrial and marine organisms, hemisynthesis of compounds from natural origin; valorization of natural resources.

Since 2009 coordinator of the Laboratório de Análises/LAQV-REQUIMTE that provides analytical services to public and private institutions, and industry.
