Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from NOVA University Lisbon in 1992. Associate Professor with Habilitation at the same university involved in the teaching of Organic Chemistry and Organic Synthesis. The scientific activity has been focused in the target-oriented organic synthesis, and the scientific interests have diversified in several areas always having by base the design and synthesis of new molecules and new reactions, which can contribute to interdisciplinary solutions. Namely, 1) the idealization and synthesis of new dye molecules as sensitizers for solar cells, 2) the functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles based on magnetite with metals or organic ligands, and 3) the synthesis of natural products and derivatives with potential biological interest.
