Rúben Moreira (RM) is currently undertaking is PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Aveiro (UA) with the main project entitled: “FITWISE: Transgenerational effects of paternal childhood obesity and weight-loss management through dietary correction and exercise”.
RMholds a Licenciatura in Biomedical Sciences and a Master’s in Biochemistry with specialization in Biomolecular Methods from UA. He completed his master’s dissertation at UA with a remarkable 20/20 grade, touching in themes such as reproductive biology, metabolism, and endocrinology. The practical component of his work included cell culture, cytotoxicity assays (SRB, MTT, LHD), molecular biology techniques (western and slot-blot), metabolomics (1H-NMR), and immunoassays (ELISA).
Despite RM's relatively brief academic journey, he already published two peer-reviewed scientific papers (Antioxidants, MDPI; IF: 7.0; Q1), one abstract, and one book chapter. Furthermore, he participated in several scientific meetings and gave an oral presentation and online poster presentation. To further enrich his writing skills, RM finished two online courses: “LearnEnglish Select Advanced Course” promoted by the British Council and “Writing in the Sciences” course promoted by Stanford University.
RM was also involved in multiple pedagogical activities, including as professor assistant and as monitor, and in the organization of four international scientific events, one of which with several editions.
