Ana Carolina Costa got her Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry from the NOVA School of Science and Technology in 2019. After her Bachelor's degree, she obtained her Master's degree in Biotechnology at NOVA School of Science and Technology in 2022. During her Master's thesis, she developed spent coffee ground extracts rich in antioxidant phenolic compounds using Natural Deep Eutectic Systems (NADES). Which were incorporated directly in novel and sustainable topical formulations, also developed by her, and with the collaboration of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL). After finishing her master, she had the opportunity to do research in Biotechnology, in a secondment between DES.Solutio Lda. (Portugal), and University of Camerino (Italy). Currently she is a PhD student in Biotechnology, at NOVA School of Science and Technology. Her work is within the Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde (LAQV/REQUIMTE), in partnership with Des Solutio Lda., and also in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon. Her main research focus is the extraction of bioactive compounds using Natural deep eutectic systems (NADES) for pharmaceutical applications.
