Cláudia Silva holds a BSc in Biochemistry (2013) from the CESPU and an MSc in Applied Biochemistry (2015) from the University of Minho. In 2022, she obtained her PhD in Metabolism - Clinical and Experimental from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at LAQV@REQUIMTE. She has developed research work in the study of diseases (e.g. cancer, diabetes, obesity) pathophysiology, and the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the cellular uptake of nutrients, especially glucose and glutamine and how these mechanisms interfere with these pathologies. More recently, the use of waste, food industry by-products rich in bioactive compounds such as polyphenols with potential in the context of obesity, diabetes, and cancer, has also been his focus of interest. She published 27 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 1 book chapter and more than 40 communications in scientific meetings. She co-supervised 4 BSc, 4 MSc students.
