Sara Granja (SG) is an adjunt professor at Escola Superior de Saúde do Instituto Politécnico do Porto (E2S|P.Porto). She holds a degree in Pathological Cytological and Thanatology Anatomy, completed her master's thesis in 2009, and earned her PhD in Health Sciences from the School of Medicine at the University of Minho in 2013.
Since 2017, SG has lectured several curricular units in the fields of Pathological Cytological and Thanatology Anatomy and Laboratory Biomedical Sciences.
In her scientific career, SG has focused on studying the role of Monocarboxylate Transporters (MCTs) and CD147 in solid tumors, making significant contributions to the field of oncobiology, particularly in the study of glycolytic metabolism in the tumor microenvironment. She has authored or co-authored 40 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters, with an accumulated impact factor of 217, nearly 1200 citations, and an h-index of 22. SG has supervised 1 PhD student, 11 master's dissertations, and 24 bachelor's projects. Her research areas include Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Medical Biotechnology, Oncobiology, and Immunometabolism.
