Academic Staff
Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the College of Biotechnology at the Catholic University of Porto (ESB/UCP), MSc. in Science and Food Engineering from the same institution, and a graduate in Aquatic Environmental Sciences from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar at the University of Porto (ICBAS/UP).
Postgraduate in Methods of Environmental Toxicology by ICBAS/UP and, in Safety, Hygiene, and Health at Work Conditions by the College of Engineering of the Institute Polytechnic of Porto and the Association for Development in Technological Innovation. Certified as a Professional (CAP) Health and Safety Senior Practitioner by the Portuguese Systems of Professional Certification (ACT).
Since 2003, has held the position of full Professor in Environmental Health at the Health School of the Institute Polytechnic of Porto (ESS|P.PORTO) and serves as a Coordinator in the scientific area of Environmental Health. In this field, she has developed an intensive pedagogic and scientific activity in Environmental Health, including involvement in the Bologna process, B.Sc and Master's degree programs, and other related studies/programs. At P.PORTO, she has been actively involved on the quality assessment and assurance of higher education.
Since April 2022, she has been the Vice-President of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto for Quality, Accreditation, and Sustainability, following her previous position as Vice-President of ESS|P.PORTO (from 2009 to 2022) with responsibilities for quality assurance, safety, and environment.
As a researcher, she is an integral part of the research unit in the Environment and Health Researcher Center at REQUIMTE/LAQV, ESS|P.PORTO. The primary research interests encompass Public Health, Human Exposure and Prevention, Environmental and Occupational Health, Microbiome, Food and Bioactive compounds, and Sustainability solutions for humans and the environment. She actively participates in several ongoing projects.
