She is an Associated member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), belongs to the Clinical Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy for Medical Diagnosis (CLIRSPEC) as well as to the Portuguese Society of Biochemistry (SPB). She has expertise in applying vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR (either benchtop or Syncrothron radiation), Raman and with neutrons) to the study of biological samples such as human cells and tissues. She is currently conducting research on the identification, using vibrational spectroscopy, of early liver rejection biomarkers in liver biopsies demonstrating scientific independence with 2 papers published as senior author and 6 as corresponding author . She is also enrolled in the design of Pt/Pd-based anticancer agents.
