Dr. Rui Oliveira holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP) since 1992 and a Ph.D. degree in Biochemical Engineering from the Martin-Luther-University (MLU), Germany, since 1998. He is currently Associate Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the School of Science and Engineering Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCTUNL), Portugal, and the head of the Systems Biotechnology and Engineering lab at FCTUNL. He develops research activity in the field of computational systems biotechnology with emphasis on the use of hybrid Artificial Intelligence/Mechanistic systems for Process Digitalization.
