Joana Galante holds a BSc in Microbiology (2013) and a MSc in Applied Microbiology (2018) both from Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto. During her BSc, she did an Erasmus internship, at University College London (UK), where she worked with Streptococcus pneumoniae and several molecular biology techniques. From 2015 to 2017 she worked in R&D at A4F, SA, in Lisbon, gaining experience in microalgal cultivation and biotechnology and in 2018 she held a research grant at Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto, in the department of Prof. Ana Gomes. Currently, she is doing a PhD at i3S and FCUP and her current interests include Candida spp., antimicrobial peptides, antifungal drugs, microbiology, nanomedicine, and vaginal drug-delivery.
