Clara Gomes is an Assistant Researcher at the Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde (LAQV) at NOVA FCT, in the Molecular Synthesis Group, Organometallic and Coordination Chemistry Laboratory. Since November 2018, she is also in charge of the Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography Service. She is responsible for the implementation and management of the structure determination service and the X-ray facility at NOVA FCT.
Her research is in the field of synthetic coordination/organometallic chemistry, where possible using green chemistry synthetic methods such as mechanochemistry, catalysis and supramolecular chemistry, in the synthesis of flexible metal-organic frameworks and cages for structure elucidation of key non-crystalline targets such as oils, liquids or amorphous solids, and for applications in hydrogen production from water splitting.
Scopus citation metrics (ID 24343503400) show 89 cited articles (>1130 citations and h-index 20, July 2024), 2 book chapters, 1 encyclopedia entry and 2 datasets, 2 patents, 39 oral communications (18 invited) and 90 poster co-authorships. She is a team member of the Horizon Europe project IMPACTIVE. She was PI/co-PI of a FCT project (PTDC/QUI-QIN/31585/2017) and core group member (gender balance coordinator and grant awarding coordinator) of COST Action CA18112 (MechSustInd). Currently she is involved in three other COST Actions: CA21101 (COSY), CA22107 (BEST-CSP) and CA22147 (EU4MOFs).
