Researcher
I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon, in 2014. Currently, I hold the position of Assistant Researcher at LAQV@REQUIMTE, NOVA School of Science and Technology. My research interests primarily revolve around the development of functional luminescent and photoresponsive materials. My scientific expertise spans a wide spectrum, ranging from organic synthesis to the photophysical characterization of both organic and organometallic compounds.
Additionally, I serve as an Invited Assistant Professor at ESTeSL, Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, where I employ innovative pedagogical tools to teach Organic Chemistry.
During my postdoctoral studies, I undertook a project focused on TADF (Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence) emitting nanomaterials for applications in bioimaging and biosensing. This endeavor resulted in securing funding as the Principal Researcher for two research projects: "DEFENSE: Delayed Fluorescence Nanomaterials for Imaging and Sensing" (FCT/COMPETE2020 - approximately €207k) and "TAFENDIT - Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitting Nanomaterials for Detection and Imaging of Tumors" (Terry Fox Grant - €15k).
I am co-author of 30+ articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and have contributed a book chapter to the field. My mentoring experience includes supervising 3 MSc dissertations and 3 BSc final course projects. Presently, I am actively supervising 1 Ph.D. thesis.
