I’m a Sustainable Chemistry PhD student and my work is focused on the development of new photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy. Some of the work objectives are: 1) the conjugation of porphyrins and hydroporphyrins with bioactive molecules and enzymatic inhibitors, which could be released in physiological media through a cleavable linker; 2) synthesis of new hydroporphyrins through mild and efficient protocols (e.g., by using microwave irradiation); 3) incorporation of porphyrins and hydroporphyrins in metal-organic frameworks, which would enhance significantly the therapeutic efficiency of PDT.
