Sónia Pires is since December 2014 Doctor in Organic Chemistry by the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and her education and scientific career to date has been spent mostly in the same overall host institution. Her scientific background covers diverse areas of chemistry from organic synthesis (porphyrin derivatives, flavonoid compounds), the development of catalytic assays to oxidative processes under environmental safe conditions, or fluorescent probes sensing ability. The scientific research developed already gives rise to 15 publications in peer-reviewed journals, two book chapters, as well several conference presentations. According to Scopus she presents an h-index of 8 with 199 citations (without self-citations).
