Graduated in Biology (2004) and finished her Ph.D. degree in Biology in 2011, at the University of Aveiro. 2011-2019 was a Post-doctoral researcher at QOPNA & CESAM, were investigated the phytotoxicity of nanoparticles. Currently, she is a researcher at the LAQV-REQUIMTE of the University of Aveiro. Her current research is focused in i) developing strategies that mitigate (a)biotic stress in crops and in ii) assessing the phytotoxicity of environmental contaminants. Sónia Silva published 38 SCI articles (h=20 by scopus), 2 book chapters, 6 proceedings on scientific meetings, and several communications. Supervised 22 master/undergraduated students and is supervising a PhD student. She also participated in 3 Ph.D. juries, 9 master juries and 6 grant juries.
