Sílvia M. Rocha got a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Coimbra University) and a PhD in Chemistry and Habilitation in Biochemistry (Aveiro University). Her research is focused on the characterization of plant raw materials and agro-food-products, for the prospection of bioactive compounds, and understanding them from the analytical, technological and sensorial point of view. Also, her interests are also devoted to the use of advanced chromatographic methodologies for metabolomics purposes, namely related with microorganisms, plant and body fluids, as a powerful tool for understanding complex systems, and explore them to study specific physiological issues, pathological mechanisms, and to assess environmental impacts.
