Rita Maria Pinho Ferreira has a degree and a PhD in Biochemistry. RF is Associate Professor with habilitation at DQ-UA where she has been teaching courses related to biochemistry and molecular biomedicine to both undergraduate and graduate students. RF develops research work in the field of muscle plasticity in pathophysiological conditions, including the evaluation of the impact of exercise training in wasting conditions using Omics approaches. She has been devoted to the evaluation of the impact of lifestyle on cancer cachexia. She has participated in more than 20 scientific research projects, most of them in the field of Health Sciences. RF published more than 250 scientific publications in international journals, most of which in Life and Health Sciences (h index 38 according to Scopus in 06.2024). RF also published 6 papers in national journals, 3 books (1 international and 2 national editions) and 17 book chapters. RF supervises/supervised 3 pos-doc, 16 PhD, 64 master and 28 graduation students.
