Alexandra Plácido graduated in Biochemistry from University of Porto in 2007, completed a Master degree in Quality Control, Water and Foods at the same University and concluded a PhD degree on Sustainable Chemistry, which was jointly awarded by the University of Porto; Nova University of Lisbon, and University of Aveiro, in 2018. After the PhD, she started post-doc work at the Glial Cell Biology Group/i3S in bioprospecting peptides in nature with anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activity in human microglia. Since 2019, she is post-doc researcher at the Associate Laboratory REQUIMTE/LAQV, at the University of Porto and she has been working in the antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of Portuguese amphibians.
