Virgínia graduated in Chemistry, 2005; Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, 2008; and a Ph.D. in Chemistry, 2012. Since 2005 until now, her nuclear scientific area is analytical chemistry namely analysis of pesticides and other contaminants in food, human and environmental samples. Her research addressed all aspects of the analytical process and data processing using many types of analytical techniques applied in novel and useful ways.
She is Researcher at REQUIMTE/LAQV-ISEP and Invited Professor at ISEP. She is the author of 60 publications in international peer journals, 8 book chapters, editor of 2 books, supervised 4 Ph.D., 21 MSc, and 15 BSc, and collaborator in 23 R&D projects.
