Researcher
Manuela M. Moreira graduated in Chemistry, at Faculty of Science, University of Porto (FCUP), 2007; Master degree in Technology, Science and Food Safety, at FCUP, 2009 and PhD in Sustainable Chemistry at UP in 2013. Her main work field is agrarian sciences, namely in the sustainable valorization of agro-food wastes. Her research is addressed to the development of environmentally friendly techniques for extracting bioactive compounds from by-products, as well as the development of value-added products and subsequent application in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Recently, she has also been working in biochars production from agroforestry wastes for application in contaminants adsorption as well as a sustainable remediation strategy for burnet soils.
