Researcher
Luisa Barreiros graduated in Microbiology by the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) in 2000. In 2009, LB finished her PhD in Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, U.Porto (FEUP). From 2009 to 2011, LB was an Invited Assistant at FEUP and since 2011, she is an Invited Teacher (first Assistant, then Adjunct) at the School of Health (ESS), P.Porto. Also in 2011, LB joined REQUIMTE, Faculty of Pharmacy, U.Porto (FFUP) as a post-doc researcher, having secured a FCT grant between 2013 and 2018. Since 11/2018, LB is a contracted researcher at REQUIMTE-FFUP, working in Analytical Chemistry and related areas, namely in the development of analytical and bioanalytical techniques for application to complex matrices (biological, environmental, food). During the last years, she has developed a strong expertise on targeted MS analysis and in sample preparation strategies using miniaturized and automated flow-based systems. More recently, she started to work in the untargeted analysis of biological matrices. During her research career LB has authored/co-authored 57 papers in peer-reviewed international journals (10 as co-/corresponding author), 4 book chapters and 16 publications in proceedings of scientific meetings. Her work has over 1250 citations (h-index is 19). LB is currently PI of the FCT project Analytics2H - Advanced analytical strategies based on 3D printing to unveil the health-to-disease transition (project 2022.06012.PTDC DOI 10.54499/2022.06012.PTDC) and has been co-PI of the FCT project ACT4Nano - Analytical strategies for accelerating the clinical translation of nanoparticles (project EXPL/QUI-QAN/0360/2021 DOI 10.54499/EXPL/QUI-QAN/0360/2021).
