José Miguel Pimenta Ferreira de Oliveira graduated in Biochemistry in 2000 (Faculty of Sciences, U.Porto). In 2010, completed his PhD degree in Life Sciences (Wageningen University). In 2011, joined as postdoctoral researcher the Stress Biology group led by Professor Conceição Santos (U.Aveiro), and in 2017 joined the Free Radicals and Antioxidants Unit led by Prof. Eduarda Fernandes (Faculty of Pharmacy, U.Porto).
The earlier postdoctoral activities focused on the antioxidant and cytotoxic effects of phytochemicals, e.g. cellular and molecular effects of flavonoids in different models. In addition, currently studies the cytotoxic and inhibitory actions of phytochemicals,e.g. flavonoids in osteosarcoma spheroids and in ex ovo cell models.
