Luisa Maia (Assistant Researcher) has a long-standing interest in metalloenzymes, having contributed to the elucidation of the mechanism of action of enzymes relevant to HUMAN HEALTH & DISEASE, but also ENVIRONMENT and biological production of ENERGY.
Her recent efforts have been dedicated to the study of the novel human nitrate-nitrite-nitric oxide pathway, as well as, of bacterial enzymatic systems to convert CO2 into added-value compounds. She is also collaborating in the characterisation of different biological and inorganic metallic systems (Mo,Fe,Cu,Ni).

EXPERTISE:
protein production, biochemical & functional characterisation (kinetics and mechanisms)
FIELDS:
ENZYMOLOGY; BIOINORGANIC CHEMISTRY; SPECTROSCOPY
