César A.T. Laia (Assistant Professor at FCT NOVA) research focuses on the development of optically active materials, such as electrochromic devices and luminescent glasses, using chemical bottom-up approaches towards nano- or self-assembled materials with enhanced properties for different applications. He is an expert in fluorescence spectroscopy of organic and inorganic materials including luminescence spectroscopy, Laser Flash Photolysis and Time Correlated Single Photon Counting.
