(Chemical) Bonding is what makes life possible

Carla Portugal obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering-Transfer Phenomena and Unit operations, in 2005, from FCT-UNL. She is Assistant Researcher at LAQV-Requimte, since 2009. Carla Portugal has published 51 papers, 3 book chapters and 4 encyclopedia entries. She authored 15 invited, 60 regular oral communications and 36 panel communications. She supervised 1 post-doc fellow, 5 PhD and 7 MSc students and 31 other young academics. Carla Portugal participated in 8 national and international projects. PI of 2 projects. Her main scientific interests are the design of functional porous materials (e.g. membranes, monoliths) and their application in bioprocessing and biomedicine. She lectured classes on "Membrane Separation Processes", "Membranes for regenerative medicine" and "Drug delivery system", to master students of FCT-UNL.
