MSc student
Helena is currently a PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in Food Science and Nutrition.
She obtained her MSc degree in Quality Control from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (Food and Water Specialization), after a Specialization and Bachelor’s in Biochemistry (Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto).
During her MSc studies, she assessed the neurotoxicity of common food contaminants through in vitro methods.
Her research is focused on human cell-based assays to study the effect of bioactive compounds, dietary contaminants, and whole meals on health, including intestinal inflammation and neurotoxicity.
