Researcher

Doctor in Chemical Engineering (PhD Dec. 2009), Senior Researcher (since 01-03-2015). Author of 81 publications in international peer reviewed journals (Index H = 35, H10 = 70, 4847 citations @ Google Scholar), 77 proceedings in national/international conferences, 250+ contributions in national/international conferences (35 invited oral communications, 76 oral communications and 142 poster communications). He has participated in 26 funded projects (5 of them EU). His research experience encompasses areas from liquid chromatography field, mainly in the intensification of the simulated moving bed technology, to the development of ionic liquids and eutectic systems as novel, advanced, smart materials (critical evaluation in the field of green chemistry) and their study in separation/purification processes, aqueous biphasic systems, solubilisation and aggregation mechanisms, biomass valorisation, drug delivery, as well as the development of pharmaceutically active ionic liquids and eutectic systems. In addition, his research addresses the development of technologies for the removal of, and circular economy approaches to, fluorinated compounds–specifically fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
