(Chemical) Bonding is what makes life possible

João Lopes (Master in Biochemistry) is interested in the exploitation of enzymes and other proteins to tackle environmental problems.
During his Master Thesis, he developed work aiming to explore the potential of laccase, horseradish peroxidase, hemoglobin and cytochrome c in bioremediation processes against key environmental pollutants.
Presently, he is focused in formate dehydrogenases and their exploitation in enzymatic systems to convert CO2 into added-value compounds, under the framework of the "CO2 Free" Project (PTDC/BTA-BTA/0935/2020).
