Pedro Domingues is an Associate Professor with Aggregation (Habilitation) at the Aveiro center for mass spectrometry at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He obtained his BA in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Coimbra in 1990 and his PhD in Chemistry/Mass Spectrometry from the University of Aveiro in 2000. He has been working in mass spectrometry applications since 1996 and his work is mainly focused on the general field of application of mass spectrometry to biomolecules whining the LAQV-requimte (Bio)Chemistry & Omics group of the Aveiro University node. Current research efforts include the study and characterization of metabolites, lipids, and proteins using metabolomic, lipidomic and proteomic mass spectrometry approaches. He is the author or co-author of more than 310 publications. He has participated in more than 24 funded scientific projects, including 4 EU-funded projects. He has supervisor/co-supervised 41 master students, 16 PhD students, and 13 post-Doc investigators. He was director of the Master in Biomolecular Methods (2007-2009) and director of the Master of Biochemistry (2010-2018) of the University of Aveiro and a member of the Pedagogical Board of the University of Aveiro (2013-2019). He was involved in two patents. He was the Secretary of the Board of the Portuguese Society of Biochemistry. He is the current coordinator of the Mass Spectrometry Group of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Aveiro. He is the Vice-President of the Ethics Council of the University of Aveiro.
