LAQV researchers participate in a project awarded € 2.4 million to improve the agricultural and food sectors of Portugal. LAQV joins a consortium composed of several research institutes and universities that aim to increase the profitability and sustainability of agricultural production chains and food industries of the North of Portugal.
The project aims to reduce the environmental impact of agrifood industries while managing the impact that climate changes may have on food production and quality. For that purpose, AgriFood XXI is driven by three main action lines: 1) Agrifood Chains Resilient to Climate and Environmental Constraints; 2) Advanced Technologies for Food Processing aiming to increase its Safety, Quality, Nutritional Value, and Sensory Characteristics; and 3) Valuation of agri-food by-products.
AgriFood XXI (Development and Consolidation of Research in the Agrifood sector in Northern Portugal) was funded through the NORTE 2020 Programme.
